Often, ‘working’ with our clients doesn’t feel like work at all. That was exactly the case with Terri and Paul’s wedding earlier this month.
We joined groom Paul and some of his ‘lads’ as they made the final preparations for the biggest day of their lives. Everyone quickly dressed in their formal attire, and all of the group had cufflinks which matched their own hobbies and interests. As they tweaked their buttonholes provided by the talented Mary at The Wedding Room, the time had come for them to make a small ‘detour' to the pub which was a short walk from the church.
With the groom’s party on the way for a cheeky pre-wedding pint, MP drove round the corner to bride Terri’s house where she was slipping in to her stunning Justin Alexander wedding gown which had a serious train and the longest veil we have ever seen in all of our years as professional photographers.
Each bridesmaid (and the bride) had custom dressing-gowns with their ‘job title’ on them, and MP spent a few moments photographing everyone out on the decking at the rear of the house.
Dress: Check. Veil: Check. Shoes: Check. So what’s left? What should every bride do just minutes before they get married? That’s right, Terri brushed her teeth! :-)
MP left the bridal party to rejoin the lads at The Star Inn pub in Beeston (Nottingham). Here, a large group of Terri and Paul’s friends and family joined the groom for a quick pre-wedding drink before taking the two minute walk around the corner to the wedding ceremony venue, Beeston Parish Church.
This church has been refurbished, and with its woodwork, huge space and modern lighting, is a very impressive venue. Within mere moments of our arrival, the bridesmaids and bride arrived in two Rolls Royce Phantom III cars. This required the combined efforts of two wedding car hire companies, Cupid Carriages and American Pie Limos.
Terri and her bridesmaids made the final few steps down the long aisle to meet her future husband. As hymns were sung, the congregation were joined by the church choir. The ceremony was beautiful, and bride Terri told us later that she couldn’t decide whether she wanted to laugh or cry as she uttered her vows to Paul.
With the service over, everyone spilled out into the beautiful May sunshine. The church bells peeled, and everyone took their place for two rounds of confetti and a large group photograph.
The two Rolls Royce’s were on standby to take the wedding party to the reception venue, Donington Manor, which the couple had booked out in its entirety for the exclusive use of their friends and family.
With the sun blazing, Terri, Paul and their friends and family enjoyed Buck’s Fizz on one of the rear gardens at the rear of Donington Manor. Whilst they were being entertained by 'The Wedding Singer' Martin Woodward, we took a few minutes to take a handful of formal photographs. With the guests enjoying their drinks and the music, MP took the bride, groom and the bridesmaids into the second garden for a series of fun photographs. Terri and Paul then had time to say hello to everyone at the wedding before the wedding breakfast got underway.
Wedding speeches can sometimes be a little boring, but this certainly wasn’t the case with Paul, his best man, and Terri’s father. During his speech, Paul said to Terri: “You gave up everything to be with me, and there isn’t a single day that goes by when I don’t appreciate that fact.” There was such emotion in the room; it was a beautiful moment to witness.
The crowd cheered, “Speech!”. Strange, because the speeches had finished. “Speech, Terri!”. It’s rare for a bride to make a speech at a wedding, but Terri was only too willing to stand up in front of everyone. "When I first met you, Paul.” She said. “I genuinely thought you were gay, because your dancing was so good.” The room erupted with laugher.
With the wedding breakfast complete, MP took the couple upstairs to the bridal suite for another series of fun photographs, but also, mainly, to get them away for a few minutes for a moment of intimate romance.
Terri and Paul are two lovely people; they were always checking to make sure MP was okay throughout the day, and as a amateur photographer himself (The groom), it was nice to have someone like Paul admire the time and effort we put into all of our photographs.
Here is a mini-collection of images MP captured during their special day that we will remember forever.
We have shared over 100 images and we will share additional previews soon.
As always, enjoy! :-)
