Today, we celebrate the first wedding anniversary of one of our favourite couples, Katherine and Ian who married in our own village in Bottesford, UK.
This is the first time we have shared Katherine and Ian's wedding in its full entirety, as we only shared a small selection of image previews in the past. It's been difficult to decide which images we should share, as their wedding photography collection contains over 450 images. However, we have decided to share 200ish images, and these can be viewed within this feature after you have read their amazing story.
THE DAY OF THEIR WEDDINGThis is the first time we have shared Katherine and Ian's wedding in its full entirety, as we only shared a small selection of image previews in the past. We have noticed over the years that weddings in one venue (or two venues close to one another) run very smoothly, and are often stress-free. With little or no travel, there are fewer logistical headaches, freeing bride, groom, friends and family to enjoy their special day.
That was the case with Katherine and Ian's wedding in Bottesford, just around the corner from MP-HQ.
A few months before their special day, we met the couple in the grounds of St. Mary's church in Bottesford for their preWED session. The River Devon runs along the rear of the church, with a beautiful tree-lined walkway that follows the meandering path of the river. It was the perfect opportunity to soak-in some of the atmosphere of this very special place that would become the setting for one of the most important days of their lives.
Their special day was upon them. We joined Katherine for her bridal preparations at their beautiful home. Ian is a builder by trade, and built their home all by himself.
With everything perfect, the time had come to set off for St. Mary's, which was only a few minutes away by car.
The spire of St. Mary's Church, also known as 'The Lady of the Vale' dominates the Vale of Belvoir skyline. With 123 steps to the top of the 210 feet tall church tower, it is believed to be the tallest church in Leicestershire. Ian was waiting alongside his best man, with their friends and family taking their seats in the church which is renowned for its impressive interior monuments.
After a beautiful ceremony, the congregation filed out of the church into the... rain. Heavy rain. A complete downpour. Everyone sprinted back into the church for five minutes whilst the deluge continued. Then, as suddenly as it had began, the rain stopped and the sun appeared once again. Luckily, the rain hadn't dampened the ground, and that was important for the next part of their special day.
Ian's parents own the paddock in the centre of the village, literally across the road from the church, so it made perfect sense to erect a large marquee and host the reception there. The paddock is opened-up to the public once a year for the annual Bottesford Fireworks display and other public events, so it was lovely to see it in a different light in the summertime, full of giggling children, apple trees, and the church as the backdrop.
There were hilarious speeches and a live band to finish the day, it's difficult to imagine a more perfect day in a beautiful rural location.
Their wedding day and photography captured will always remain close to our heart as we have such happy memories. We hope these images make you smile as much as they do us.
