Today, we are delighted to share image previews from the beautiful fineART wedding of Lauren and Sam captured by www.markpugh.com.
What a day! Lauren and Sam were married in the spectacular surroundings of Harlaxton Manor, United Kingdom, and Mark Pugh was privileged to have been asked to capture their wedding.
Mark joined Lauren at her parent’s house to capture her bridal preparations. He effortlessly caught the atmosphere of the preparations, as well as the details including the dress and shoes.
Shortly after the preparations were photographed, it was time to move onto the next venue The Gregory Arms at Harlaxton. Here, ‘the boys’ and their partners and children had assembled for a pre-wedding drink. With photography here complete, it was time to cross the road to Harlaxton Manor, the venue for their wedding.
Mark drove down the one mile long driveway down to the house, which must be one of the grandest and most imposing buildings in England. It is easy to see why Harlaxton Manor is a favourite amongst Hollywood location scouts.
Mark went to the bridal suite at the Manor to meet Lauren and her bridesmaids and mother. He captured more formal and informal images before heading down to the Grand Hall where Sam was waiting patiently for Lauren’s arrival. The hall was packed as the couple exchanged vows in front of a huge fire and grand piano. It was hard to imagine a grandeur setting for a wedding ceremony.
With the formalities complete and lovely rain in the background, everyone retired to the spacious greenhouses where there was time for formal group photographs, whilst professional magician Will Gray worked the room and wowed everyone with his incredible close-up magic.
Mark Pugh then took the bride and groom out into the grounds for their newlyWED love session: “It’s always good when a couple do not mind the rain and are happy to head out and get a little bit muddy - the photographs make it all worthwhile."
The wedding party then sat down for the wedding breakfast in the grand dining room before speeches, cake-cut and their first dance.
The team at Harlaxton Manor could not have been any more helpful, and it was wonderful to have their expert assistance.
Mark Pugh thoroughly enjoyed capturing Lauren and Sam's wedding and our Team and Mark wish them every happiness for the future,. We hope you enjoy viewing 150 plus firstLOOK wedding image previews.
Congratulations!
Their final wedding photography collection will contain over 400 plus images, and we will share additional image previews soon.
As always, enjoy.
ABOUT THE GREGORY ARMS, HARLAXTON
The Gregory at Harlaxton has been serving local residents since the nineteenth century.
Although the professions of the villagers have undoubtedly changed over the centuries, the friendly atmosphere and the fact that it is a perfect place to unwind after a hard day, have not. In times when the Gregory family owned most of Harlaxton and the surrounding area, this is exactly what those workers from the Harlaxton estate did.
Upset by seeing his workers drinking outside the pub while he walked home from church, the squire relocated the pub, from where is now Wyggeston Farm, to its current location - The Drift, and served the landlord with only a six-day licence. Although this may seem harsh, the squire was aware he would be costing the landlord of The Gregory money so granted him sole responsibility for supplying coal to the village and, of course, Harlaxton Manor.
The new location was perfect for the coal deliveries, which would arrive by canal boat from Nottingham and Derby, delivered to the wharf at the bottom of The Drift, then brought by horse and cart to the pub. According to local history, a weighbridge was installed at the pub and was recently uncovered during renovation of the bedrooms. Disappointingly you will no longer find the The Gregory selling coal. The only black stuff on offer today is Guinness!
Each of our bedrooms is named after a figure prominent in the history of Harlaxton Manor. You can see the Manor from some of the bedroom windows. It is now owned by the University of Evansville, a college in the USA and used as its British campus.
ABOUT HARLAXTON MANOR
Harlaxton Manor, built in 1837, is a manor house located in Harlaxton, Lincolnshire, England. Its architecture, which combines elements of Jacobean and Elizabethan styles with symmetrical Baroque massing, renders the mansion unique among surviving Jacobethan manors.
The manor is a popular location for filming. Exterior and interior shots have been featured in the films The Ruling Class, The Last Days of Patton, The Lady and the Highwayman, The Haunting and The Young Visiters. More recently, the building was used as a site in the reality television series Australian Princess.
The manor currently serves as the British campus for the University of Evansville and partners with Eastern Illinois University and Western Kentucky University.
Harlaxton Manor is listed Grade I on the National Heritage List for England, as is its forecourt gateway and screen. The surrounding park and gardens are listed Grade II* on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.
