Today (for the first time), on behalf of www.markpugh.com, we are delighted to feature the beautiful Colwick Hall wedding of Joyce and Andrew (A.K.A Drew) who have proved November weddings in dark light 'with dashes of rain' can work brilliantly! :-)
Drew popped the 'Will you marry me' question whilst on holiday in Palma Majorca on 1st August 2013 and Joyce shares her story below:
THEIR ENGAGEMENT
"We were walking along the pier after just having a bite to eat and it was really quiet (perfect!) and we sat down on a bench to admire the view and take in the sunshine.
Drew then started to tell me how much I meant to him and then said: I will show you how much I love you... and got down on one knee with a beautiful ring in his hand!
I couldn't of imagined anything better."
THE DAY OF THEIR WEDDING
Mark Pugh joined Joyce and her family at her home in Nottingham.
The place was a hive of activity, and Joyce, her bridesmaids and family bustled around to ensure everything was perfect before everyone set off to the wedding venue, Colwick Hall.
The theme for their wedding was obvious for Joyce: "I would say the style of our wedding was pretty girly! The only thing we (actually, 'I') had in mind whilst planning the wedding was that I wanted pink and flowers!
Being an ex-florist, I have always loved flowers and I wanted to make all my own and have them everywhere! We had them as our centrepieces and each daytime guest received a small jar with their name on it with flowers inside. These were all handmade by Drew who is still haunted by the word 'jar'".
Groom Drew was waiting patiently in the Grand Ballroom at Colwick Hall where the wedding ceremony was to take place. Accompanied by his friends and family, Joyce arrived in her wedding transport supplied by Lymn's Luxury Vehicle Hire and took the short walk down the aisle of the ballroom to meet Drew.
"My dress was a Diane Harbridge fishtail design with little flowers all over the top corset section with a few sparkly bits on. I originally chose the same design but in a princess style gown, but after thinking it over and over, I realised I wanted something a bit more figure hugging! I went back to the bridal shop Mia Sposa in Nottingham and they showed me the same dress but in a fishtail design, and as soon as I tried it on I knew it was 'the one'! I loved it."
With their beautiful ceremony complete, and the wedding party in the bar area enjoying drinks, Mark Pugh took everyone out to the front of Colwick Hall for a grand group photograph before Joyce and Drew ventured off for a newlyWED ride in their wedding transport.
Upon their return, Mark Pugh took the bride, groom, groomsmen and bridesmaids out to the rear of Colwick Hall for a short series of group photographs. Credit must be given to everyone for braving the chilly November weather, and within a few short minutes, the group was back indoors where the ballroom had been transformed into the dining room for the wedding breakfast.
After the speeches, the time had come for the cake-cut and first dance, and Mark Pugh
left everyone partying into the night.
Joyce and Drew are a fantastic couple, and Mark Pugh thoroughly enjoyed capturing their special day.
In fact, Mark Pugh has had the pleasure of staying in touch with them and hopes to reunite one day in the future.
Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary!
Joyce and Drew's final wedding photography collection contained 400 plus images. However, we have decided to share 150ish photographs on behalf of www.markpugh.com, and these can be viewed below.
As always, enjoy.

ADVICE FROM THE BRIDE
My advice would be to do what YOU want to do and don't feel pressured by other people's opinions.
Also, invite whom you want as the guest list can start getting out of control as you 'feel bad' for not inviting someone but those numbers soon start to mount up!
Most importantly just enjoy it and remember it will be a special and magical day, no matter what as you are marrying your best friend and that is what truly matters about the day.
FEEDBACK ABOUT THEIR SUPPLIERS
Our photographer Mark Pugh was amazing! And actually one of the first things we booked.
After looking through the images Mark Pugh had captured we knew his style of photography was just what we wanted. We would recommend Mark Pugh, as he made us feel at ease from the start and all through the day. We got the images we wanted, and many more and we couldn't be more pleased with the results!
The bridal shop, Mia Sposa in Nottingham is great; the ladies are all so friendly and nothing was ever to much trouble for them!
Our wedding transport was Lymns Luxury Vehicle Hire (lvhh.co.uk) and we had a Rolls Royce limousine to transport us all to the venue. Beautiful cars.'
For our invites, we used an online supplier called Bride and Groom - They sent us a selection of free samples and we were able to choose what we wanted. The quality was great and they were a dusty pink design which all opened out and they were lovely!
Our Cake was from The Cheesecake Factory - it looked and tasted beautiful! Everyone enjoyed it and we thought we would be a little different from an original wedding cake!
I made all the flowers myself and just ordered what I wanted from the wholesale market. My friend Kerry who I worked with at a florist also helped me the day before and we spent hours making them all up. They were all made up of roses, freesia and gyp! All of which are my favourite flowers.
ABOUT THE VENUE COLWICK HALL
The choice of venue was obvious for Joyce and Drew.
"We often go for walks around Colwick Park, and we always passed Colwick Hall and loved it, so when we were engaged, we looked around several venues, but as soon as we walked in to Colwick Hall, we knew we had to have it! Everything about Colwick Hall was perfect for us both."
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Colwick Hall is a Grade II listed hotel on the outskirts of the city of Nottingham.
In 1896 the Hall was sold to the Nottingham Racecourse Company - The racecourse opened in 1892, the Hall became a public house and the rest of the buildings were used to accommodate grooms and jockeys.
Nottingham Corporation acquired the Hall from the Racecourse Company in 1965.
The building then fell into disrepair until it was saved by Chek Whyte, who won a competition to restore it. It was then sold to Pearl Hotels and Restaurants.
