Today, we are delighted to share firstLOOK image previews from Sarah and David's stunning wedding at Stoke Rochford Hall.
Following-on from their fantastic preWED session at Stoke Rochford Hall, Mark Pugh returned with Sarah and David for their most special of days.
Here, we share insight on behalf of Mark Pugh, and what to do if there is a drop of H2O on your wedding day! :-)
THE DAY OF THEIR WEDDING
Mark Pugh joined bride Sarah at her parent’s beautiful home on the outskirts of Grantham. It had been raining steadily for most of the day, and the rain showed no sign of stopping.
There were a few, mild, pre-wedding jitters on show, but everything was well under control.
After taking the opportunity to meet some of the ‘key players’ in the wedding, Mark took photographs of everyone getting ready, as well as lots of detail, including shoes and the dress (naturally). The arrival of the wedding car coincided with Mark Pugh's departure to Stoke Rochford Hall.
Upon his arrival, Mark Pugh met groom David, who was putting the finishing touches to the Orangery at Stoke Rochford Hall where the ceremony was due to take place, and the Library, where the Wedding Breakfast would be held.
After taking photographs of all of the venue detail, Sarah’s wedding car arrived, and she was whisked into one of the conference rooms to have her final meeting with the registrars before walking through the grand hall and the library before making her way into the Orangery where David was (slightly) nervously waiting for her.
After their beautiful ceremony, with beautiful musical accompaniment by harpist Lisa Wright, the guests adjourned to the grand hall for drinks and canapés.
Mark Pugh said: “It’s the question I am asked most often by couples: ‘What happens if it rains on our wedding day?’. Well, for my clients who aren’t marrying abroad, the reality is that there is a chance of rain no matter when you choose to marry in the United Kingdom. As a professional photographer, rain comes with the territory. In the case of Sarah and David’s wedding, there were two factors in our favour. Firstly, Stoke Rochford Hall’s Orangery offers some of the best indoor light in the East Midlands, making it perfect for indoor group photography.
Secondly, Sarah suspected it might rain on her wedding day, so she brought lots of umbrellas along to allow her to make a feature out of the rain. Despite the drizzle, she was more than game to go outside into Stoke Rochford’s extensive grounds for a NewlyWED love photography session with David."
Sarah and David also opted to go for a short drive in their wedding car just after they were married.
If your wedding transport provider suggests this to you, it is always a good idea to take them up on the offer. 10-20 minutes in the wedding car gives you a break from being photographed by your friends, and give you time alone together.
On this occasion, Sarah and David were more than happy to allow Mark Pugh into the car with them, and he was able to capture another aspect to their wedding day.
With the formal and love photography sessions completed. the time had come for the wedding breakfast, and Mark Pugh photographed the speeches, the cake cut and first dance with his usual professionalism.
Sarah and David are a fantastic couple who chose a stunning venue for their wedding day. It was a pleasure for Mark Pugh to have been able to work with such an organised couple, and meet their lovely family and friends.
Congratulations!

ABOUT THEIR WEDDING VENUE
The current Stoke Rochford Hall building was constructed in the 1840s. The estate was occupied by Harry Wyndham Jefferson and his wife Gwendolen Mary Talbot at the beginning of the 20th century.
In 1940 the house was requisitioned by the War Office, and used for a variety of purposes. It became the headquarters of the Second Battalion, the Parachute Regiment. It was in the Library at Stoke Rochford that the ill fated 1944 Arnhem ‘drop’ was planned.
Purchased in 1948 from the War Office by Kesteven County Council who built modern student accommodation, the hall was home to Kesteven College of Education, a teacher-training college which closed in 1978. It retains a connection with education, as the training and conference centre of the National Union of Teachers. It is not solely used by the NUT, but is used by national organisations and companies for conferences or seminars, being closely situated to the A1 and Grantham railway station.
On 25 January 2005 a fire gutted the interior of the hall. It was restored by English Heritage which cost £12m over three years.
